Question:
i am looking for advice on hunting mule deer in the Bridger-Teton Nat'l
Forest. I have hunted whitetails in Fla,Ga, & S.C. for many years.
After hunting mule deer in the Bridger area 2 years ago I quickly
discovered my whitetail knowledge was not very useful. Even though I
shot a small 5x5 it was more luck than any thing else. Tips for
locating mule deer in this area would bee greatly appreciated. I will
once again hunting in the "Gunsite" pass area.
Answer:
We hunted by Granite Creek several years ago about 30 minutes east and
somewhat south of Jackson Hole....and was much fun. Problem was, the elk
hunting activity going on were driving the muley's up very high. We footed
up close to some of the near peaks....saw some nice bucks and got
shooting....and finished our tags with does by end of the week. I'd
recommend trying to coordinate your hunt time to not fall in during a heavy
elk hunt season.
