Question:
Ive finally scheduled a time off work for the last week of May and am
planning a first time trip to Wyoming to do some backcountry flyfishing.
A flyfishing website would be OK by me.
Answer:
I think he is right. I lived/grew up in Wyoming for 18 years and don't
remember getting up into the backcountry for some decent fishing until late
June. If you are thinking about a hike into a high mountain lake, you might
have to wait until mid to late july for excellent fishing. I remember
hiking into Lake Angeline (sp) which is around Buffalo Wyo., and we just
missed the really good fishing by two weeks and we were there around the
16th of August, back in 1985. The fishing was still good then, but had we
been there a few weeks earlier, we would have caught even more fish. I also
seem to remember the first night we were there it rained, hailed, and snowed
on us, while it was around 106 degrees in the Sheridan/Buffalo area during
the day.
