Question:
just got a browning nomad xl for $20 with a bunch of arrows and stuff and
noticed a small crack on the end of the lower limb closest to the stock.
This bow is old school laminated wood. Anyone have any suggestions as to
how I might repair or replace this limb.
Answer:
I would go to an archery shop in your area that sells Browning bows. The
same type of thing happened to my old American Archery bow, except that my
limb blew apart. I went to the place where I bought the bow and they had an
old limb from another bow lying around. They put the limb on but it was
stronger than the other original limb on my bow, so the new limb had to have
the poundage lower(the bow lost about 10 pounds of pull total). So, I
scrapped the bow and bought a different used one for only about $20 more
than what it would have cost to fix the old bow. Now I have a newer
carping/backup bow for close to the same price.
So, I would check out the local archery shops to see if they can help you.
I would strongly recommend that you do not shoot the bow. Having a bow
explode at full draw in your hand is not a pretty site and can be quite
dangerous.
