Question:
I am looking for information on hunting preserves and guided hunts
in South Carolina. I will be rifle hunting Whitetail deer. If any one
has any personnal experience with a particular outfit, I would
appreciate the info. This is my first trip and I am interested in
seeing alot of game and not necessarily looking for trophys. Texas
would also fit into my plans.
Answer:
For an out-of-stater, a good place to start with SC
whitetail hunting would be with Hayward Simmons of
Cedar Knoll, Allendale, SC, 803/584-4785.
We enjoy longest season in US, 8/15, through 1/1, with
essentially no limits. Hayward may indeed have some
slots open after Christmas.
Bring your best optics, and plan to see a LOT of deer.
The last time that I hunted there (about 4 years ago), I
saw over fifty (50) deer.
Generally all rifle hunting from portable tree stands, may
have some permanent blinds/stands now.
