Question:
does anybody knows techniques, sites and flies about fly fishing at night
Answer:
without a doubt one of my favorite pastimes. during the summer, I do
it a lot. where i live, a local green drake comes off at and immediately
after it gets dark. i don't mean dusk. i mean dark. i tie on the
biggest adams in the box greased up like a $2 hamburger...pull my line
out two lengths and very carefully make good short casts. A big bow in
the summer, or god help you, one of the big browns from the colorado
hooks you and you better back off to the bank because in a minute,
you'll be running downstream in the dark. I hooked a big brown
one night at seven after nine and he was on but completely accross the
river on the backing at seven after ten. and then the line simply
pulled out and he was gone. when you do get a nice one to the bank
and see it under the dim light of your cheasy flickering power
ranger flashlight it is one of the best sights in the world.
If you've really got the balls and the stomach for it, read the
late Jim Bashlines, "Night Fishing for Trout" and do it just like
he says. but be warned. some things feed in the night that you
really do not want attached to your 5 weight spring creek.
