Question:
I'm trying to decide on a load for whitetail season this year. I live
in maine and hunt in a hilly area. The rifle that I will be hunting
with is a M1 Garand. I was looking at Remington Swift Scirocco Bonded
150 grain rounds, then at Winchester Partition Gold, and then at
Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertip (150 grain). I'm trying to use
the same weight ammo that I plink with that way I won't have to do
much resighting (which is 150 grain boattail FMJ). Any suggestions?
Answer:
Ass/u/me that you are from the Dallas TX area and will be hunting the
smaller WT's we have down here, I'd opt for the Ballistic Silvertips, it
doesn't require a whole lot of penetration on 140 pound deer. And
especially if you are hunting where you get alot of deer in one small
area-ie. feeder or planted grazing.
