Question:
I am in need of a new target this year. I shoot both field points and
broadheads. Looking for easy removal of arrows without the removal of
the broadhead and a lot of target durability (kinda like target
utopia). Anyway, I have been eyeing the larger sized "Cube" and "Block"
targets out of Cabelas. Any insights? Recommendations?
Answer:
There as many variations in targets as there are in bows. For field points,
I use a bag type stuffed with rags. It's good for about a year then I buy a
new outer bag for about $8. For broadheads, I go to a lumber yard and buy a
sheet of the thickest, densest foam insulation that they carry. Not
styrofoam, it doesn't last. The pink or blue stuff is tougher. A sheet of 3"
or 4" stuff will cost about $25. I cut it into squares and tape a stack
together.
I haven't tried the Block. I'm told that it will last indefinitely with
field points, not as long with BH's. I've also heard that BH's are a bugger
to pull out if it.
I use paste floor wax on my arrows which makes them easier to pull from any
target, not to mention being quieter over the rest.
