Question:
i'm planning a deer hunting trip to texas, does anybody know any good
ranches, or outfitters?
Answer:
I had this same situation last year, I found out there were numerous options
when it comes to deer hunting in Texas. One can spend anywhere from $500 to
well over $10,000. I did a lot of reasearch and in the end got a lot of help
from Jerry Stringer at Natures Design Taxidermy Studio . He
knows a lot of ranches that can fit different budgets. I ended up going with
a Hill Country area hunt west of San Antonio. It cost me $100/day and $1200
when I shot a buck. I shot a great buck, it was a 5X5 with five extra kicker
points (for a total 15 points). Yes I could of spent $6000 and probably shot
something in the 150 B&C class but my buck that went 142 without deductions
(130 with) did me just fine. If you want to see a picture of the buck I shot,
Jerry has one on his web page at http://www.vvm.com/~jds/ (goto hunting
oppurtunities). You should definetly do your homework before you go, I felt I
got well over my money's worth. I saw different places that charged double
the price for the same hunt. If you have any questions you can e-mail
me.
