I don't know any areas around there but I just started fishing the CA
aquaduct down here in Bakersfield. Oct. 31, 97 I caught a 4.5 lb and a
10lb on an live large minnow.
A buddy of mine caught a 25 and 17 lb fish on Nov. 16 on a "Deadly Duo
Shad".
Wait till the water starts to cool down. (mid december to feb or early
march).
find fast moving water(stripers love moving water) use live bait when
possible(large live minnows, live shad, or blood worms)
you can find striper jigs (use the big ones)
Remember the bigger the bait (or jig, lure) the bigger the fish.
If you want to really get brave use a baby striper no more than 4 inches
long.
