Question:
am wondering about fly fishing in Alaska, I am stopping in Juneau,
Skagway, and Sitka. I have heard of some good fishing activity in Juneau and
Skagway. Since I have limited time at each of the stops could some suggest
spot to fish?
Answer:
you can fly-fish the Skagway River in Skagway...it runs by
adjacent on the westside of town, about 5 blocks from the cruisehip
docks. In Juneau your limited to great saltwater charter boat salmon
fishing - a different type of fishing than your looking for, but if
your in Juneau in July or August it's the "sure thing" type fishing for
which Alaska is famous - exactly like one of those fishing shows on TV.
Southeast Alaska isn't the place for fly-fishing...I go up north for
that kind of thing.
