Question:
I currently live in So. California and use to deer hunt in New Jersey
(as a teen) and Nebraska (college years.) Can anyone direct me to any
informational resources about deer hunting in California?
Answer:
has two species of deer - blacktail generaly in the western half of the
state and mule deer generally in the eastern half. There may be a few
whitetail somewhere - but no season for them that I know of. Western states
with good whitetail include Montana and Colo among others. If you like
hunting whitetail, try the blacktail as it is similar in many ways (thicker
cover, do not move to next state when pressured, sneaky, hard to hunt) - not
that good mule deer have not learned to be pretty hard to hunt as well.
