Question:
ill be in or within 120 miles of Acadia for two weeks in mid-August.
Interested in stream trout fishing. Locations of streams and types of
flies/hatches at that time of year would be appreciated.
Answer:
August is a slow month in most places in Maine, streams are low, fish are
sulky. You might consider either fishing a larger river for trout or
atlantic salmon. While Salmon fishing can be very very very slow, one hookup
makes days of casting worthwhile.
120 Miles of Acadia is a pretty big area, I'd also consider getting out on
the Kennebec River between Skowhegan and Augusta, lots of big browns in
those waters (and that's alot of water). In most of that streach a boat is
a must. My favorite area is just below Waterville.
