Question:
have been rejected for my three species applications here in Arizona.
Now, I have the opportunity to spend two and a half days in Louisiana with
nothing to do. Their deer season will be open. I will be based in
Lafayette. I haven't hunted in Louisiana in over 23 years (on Ft Polk).
If I try to hunt, I will use a Contender. Any suggestions for a hunt
area/situation, and any pitfalls to look out for?
Answer:
sounds like we were at polk about the same time....if you don't object to
a drive from lafayette, ft. polk still has some great deer hunting. also,
you wouldn't have to negotiatewith a private land owner or club. the clubs
have taken a lot of private land up for themselves, but sometimes that is
good. remember peason ridge? that seems to be the best area without a lot of
grunts roaring around in fighting vehicles.
the contender should be just the ticket...you won't get a lot of long range
shots anyway in those woods. good luck and if you decide to try this, lemme
know and i'll look up the dates for peason ridge for you.
