Today is the first day of deer hunting season here...I don't know which one
I think they have different days they start hunting doe and buck. I don't
know much about it... just that it is really popular around here. It's so
popular that the kids in school district I live in have the day off and
call it in-service day for teachers due to the lack of attendance on this day.
Can you believe that? It's disgusting.
Answer:
The deer population over much of Pennsylvania has gotten away from us
because we've managed too conservatively in recent years," said Cal DuBrock,
PGC Bureau of Wildlife Management director. "Instead of permitting the
issuance of multiple antlerless licenses to interested hunters and expanding
hunting seasons, the Game Commission has, in response to social and
political concerns, limited antlerless harvests and hunting opportunities. further.
Bob Boyd, Bureau of Wildlife Management assistant director said. "If hunters
don't take deer, their breeding base grows. Right now it's approaching runaway status."
