Iowa fly fishing

Question:
Have any of you guys fly fished in Iowa. I live in Des Moines and there are some decent trout streams in NE Iowa. They are very good for a two day trip, but any longer and I would head west.

Answer:
Along the River (the Mississippi, of course) from about Dubuque, IA north to Redwing, MN and east a goodly distance into Wisconsin is called "The Driftless Area". A perfectly ugly name for a perfecty beautiful area. It's full of good small trout streams. I would go for the state parks in the area, IA, MN and WI and branch out from there. In MN, the River also flows through Lake Pepin which has good walleye and bass fishing.
