Question:
Does anyone know an archery range in or near northwest Philadelphia that
gives target archery lessons -- not hunting -- a place where a woman
would feel comfortable?
Answer:
A couple of years ago, I was looking for archery shops in Philadelphia
but couldn't find any that made it through the last recession. There is
an archery pro shop in Borden, but I forget the name of it. Have a look
in the New Jersey yellow pages. They should be able to guide you to a
range. Your comment about ranges being female-friendly is well-taken. My club
has gone through great lengths to make archery a family sport by
eliminating smoking, putting kids playthings and a TV/VCR cartoon tapes
just off the archery range. Various club members (women) have gone out of
their way to introduce archery to women. As a result, our range usually
has from 30-50% women shooting in the evenings an weekends, many of these
women are accompanied by their husbands but not always. I think its great
and can only help the sport.
