Question:
What are your experiences on this type of blinds, the tent type that
"pops up in seconds" they look comfortable and easy to set up, but
don't they spook deer? Since they are made of nylon you can't leave
them for a long time outside.
Answer:
I have used a Double Bull ground blind for the past several archery
seasons, and have taken deer with it each time. I set it up near some
apple trees (you need to be near a food source or a travel route) and
have been successful in the early season. Last year, I set it up the
day I was hunting, and the deer were very curious (one doe was looking
in from 6 feet away before she was satisfied that there was no
threat). This year, I set it up a week before I hunted. I saw 6 deer
within 15 yards of the blind, and none paid it any mind. So I guess
they just got used to it, and I had a clean shot opportunity.
If you decide to hunt from one, practice your set up and shooting.
They are not all that roomy, and you have to know how your shots will
work to give you the confidence you need.
