Question:
I hunt mainly divers in northern ontario. I would be
interested if anyone has some ideas or plans for a portable
blind using pvc pipe or something similar that is light,
easy to set up and can be compact to carry
Answer:
I attempted a portable blind using pvc pipe covered with camo sheets. It
was 6 ft. wide, 4 ft deep and about 5 ft high. It was easy to carry
unassembled to the field and easy to set up. The only problem was when the
wind was blowing it flapped horribly and had problems with the sheets
blowing off. Anchoring the sheets better did not help with the flapping.
It was not worth the aggravation. Finally took the sheets off and layed
under them on the ground. Without any wind it may have worked. I am now
trying to design a portable blind using 1/4 in. plywwod. It wood be much
heavier to carry but would not have the same problems as the sheets and
pvc. I agree withthe person about wildfowl magazine. The last edition had
an excellent design for a boat.
