Question:
My apologies to the 99.999% of ASP that could give a shit about archery.
This is for the tiny segment that are serious archers.
I finally completed my first bow. Actually, it's my fourth bow,
but the first that I was satisfied with. It's made in the style of bows
that primitive cultures have used for thousands of years, including the
ancient Egyptians. I'ts 53" long and 1?2" thick. I made the bow string
and 3 arrows. I fletched them with synthetic feathers...next time I'll
use turkey feathers. It pulls between 40-45lbs, and will shoot well
over 100yds. It's been an interesting experiment in reinventing what
the primitives have known for a long time. And, I don't think I'm done
Answer:
Believe it or not, the string I'm using us common, household
polyester thread, I know that dacron is the accepted standard, but
regular thread was all I had at hand. What I found out was that it's no
so importand what thread you use as it is how many passes you make in
reinforcing the ends of the bow string. This particular string has
lasted many, many shots. I will, however experiment with other threads.
Regarding the info you have, if you could pass it along to me, I'd
greatly appreciate it!
