Question:
I'll be visiting a friend in Anchorage August 15-24 and will be meeting up
with some old college buddies to do some fishing in the Anchorage (MatSu
Valley) and Homer (Halibut/King charter) areas. Can anyone recommend any
out-of-the-way places that should be included other than the typical tourist
traps?
Answer:
While we'll probably go more for salmon or rainbows, my buddy from Colorado
really would like to find some grayling. (In fact, he's mentioned it
several times already). We'll have different types of euipment including
fly and spinning setups, although I'm not sure what we should use for what
type of fishing.
I know that the run of salmon will be at the tail end or over by the time we
get up there, but as long as we're catching something we'll be happy. I
would like to stay away from combat fishing as it kind of ruins the fun.
