I am goiing to hire one or more guides on aforthcoming trip, and wondered
what is the etiquite for tipping guides
Answer:
I posed the same question about a month ago and recieved many varied
responces. Some people said to tip as much as 50%, others said nothing at all.
On my trip the guide went out of his way to help us with casting, provided all
the flies,leaders etc. We tipped appoximetly 10% and our guide seemed very
pleased with that. I dont think I would tip anymore (regardless of service)
just because of how much the initial layout of doe was.
It bothers me that a tip is deemed mandatory these days. We tipped our guide
because we really wanted to make sure he got a little extra for the good
service he provided us but at some level you always feel like you have to tip
or your gonna insult the guide.
