Question:
Has anyone on this NG any experience in fly fishing for bass in SW waters.
I'm a little intriqued at the idea of trying it, but know nothing about
the practicalities of it. Can anyone advise me about line types, rods,
flies
Answer:
Large sand eel looking fly's like the badger and other long twin hook
sea trout fly's work well, Keep the hooks sharp as rocks and sand very
quickly dull the point. Standard reservoir fly rods are fine, keep
moving and remember the Bass are on the move too, rarely in the same
place two tides running. they come in with the flood tide and are a
bit slower going back out, I have caught Bass to over 8lb like this,
much more fun and effective than standing behind a beach caster
