Question:
Biggest bass this year: 24", about 7 pounds. We all practice catch and
release, and the fishing success has been of great interest to the
teenage sons and daughters in the neighborhood, who find fishing much more
inviting than "hanging" at the mall or in less desireable places. Is this
a great place to live or what??

One message should be that these small community lakes, properly managed,
can provide outstanding fishing; they are certainly underfished. And just
like the productive farm ponds from my native Michigan area, if you live in
the vicinity it's usually possible to find a friend who will help you get
on the lake for a good day's fishing, or just ask at the entry-point to
talk to the lake manager. And, of course, when it comes time to move the
family, don't overlook the real opportunities these small lakes can
provide--even if it means you volunteer to become responsible for the lake
