Question:
If this happens often you should buy an electric cattle prod and
paint it to look like a standard cane. Then when the next brat grabs
it you can give him a "mild correction."
Answer:
That would be assault and would be illegal as well as just
plain WRONG. Note that I didn't even try to whack the kid with the cane.
Assault is NEVER appropriate when the 'assailant' is smaller, weaker and
simply being curious. As much as I may comment about violence etc.
toward kidz, I would NEVER... EVER... hurt one deliberately! EVER. I may
protest, I may warn, I may even yell but my reactions are VERBAL not
physical.
Plus a cattle prod would make a very poor mobility cane. Standard
mobility canes are highly sensitive wands, capable of transmitting
vibrations, surface features, textures and tactile information to the
hand of the user. They also have sufficient resiliency to make a clear
sharp "TAP" when a surface is struck lightly with the tip. Canes or
mobility wands as they are called in Britain and Europe are made of
aluminum, steel, fiberglass or carbon fiber and can be solid, hollow or
composition. The tip may be of fiberglass, plastic or steel. Canes may
have roller tips, straight tips or mushroom tips and can be a "straight
cane" (rigid) folding with an inner elastic cord holding sections
together or telescoping where the sections fit into each other when the
cane is collapsed. The cane, to be effective, must be lightweight,
durable, sensitive and visible. Standard markings are white and white
with a red tip in America and white, red and white or white and blue in
other countries. A cane is seldom used in conjunction with a dog or vice
versa. A blind person may have a cane, a dog or a sighted *human) guide
or some electronic mobility device. Because the cane is light it can be
somewhat fragile WRT lateral stresses and not all canes are 'up to'
rough handling, *particularly* use as any sort of weaponry!
