Question:
Im looking for recipies for homemade targets.
I would like to build something that would be easy
to carry, and could be setup in an open field.
I would probably shoot at a max distance of 20 yds.
I talked to one fellow who built a target out of
carboard pressed together. How much carboard would it take
to stop a 250fps arrow?
Answer:
I had built a target out of layers of cardboard. It was about 6 inches thick.
Shot an arrow into it and spent the rest of 5 minutes dismantling the target,
layer by layer. Really stopped that arrow. Saw a compound shooter hit a target
at 30 yards and then pull his arrows out with two fingers .
The target material was a bag of common cloth rags.
The price was right and then I discovered that it was perfect for broadheads.
I use a pillow case full of rags and when that is shot out, I just put the
whole thing into another pillow case. If you want a flat surface, put rags in a
box. I shoot a self bow with 140 grain delta,s using maple shafts. Very heavy
combination and have had good luck
