Question:
have an invitation to hunt deer in central Nebraska this fall. The
rancher/friend does not hunt and has not allowed hunting for several years.
His ranch is cattle with corn and other crops. He says that there are some
big
deer in his part of the state, but since he is not a hunted doesn't know
exactly how to classify them. Is there anyone out there with experience in
that area that could give me some idea what to expect."
Answer:
Which part of central Ne. are you talking about? there are many different
management units in central Ne. and can vary in terrain from river bottom to
sand hills to densly covered canyons. I have hunted central Ne since I was
14 years old (I am 33 now) and have never failed to fill my tag. You can
expect to find either whitetail or mulies in most any part of the state but
any where along the platte rivers you are most likely to find white tail. If
you could be more specific about where you plan to hunt I may be able to
give you alot more info.
