Question:
Has anyone paid the $40 and used the Texas Public Hunting Permit. I
am interested in the quality of the deer hunting lands. The state
does not give much info before you buy the permit. I would appreciate
any information on the locations and quality of the hunts.

bought it last year since i was new to texas and had no other alternatives.
i live in nw austin. so, i checked out the closest properties available for
deer hunting during bow season. it was east of austin, past giddings. the
properties were around some state park (can't recall name). based on the
traffic during bow season, i think they will be crowded later.
they were also fairly inaccessible and THICK!
i bought it again this year to check out the dove fields. many more
opportunities around austin. i also intend to check out a couple of other deer
hunting spots, though it will be at least 3 hours to get to them.
