Question:
"Deer claims are more likely to occur in the early morning or evening
hours.
In fact, 50 percent of deer claims occur between 5 p.m. and midnight, and
another 20 percent of claims occur between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m."
What has that to do with hunting? Looking at many sites, The peak times
for most RTAs are roughly at those times.
Answer:
I realise that, but I still don't see what that has to do with the
emphasis you placed on reading the deer fencing remark in the article you
quoted. The site Angus quoted made no reference to deer fencing (so made no
spurious claims about it) and the site you quoted merely advised drivers
they shouldn't assume it would be 100% effective, where present.
On the wider topic, there does seem to be a correlation in the data referred
to between the start of the hunting season and the peak accident period, but
that might just be coincidence, of course. Perhaps the deer species
concerned tend to be more restless and less timid during the mating season
and the couple of weeks that precede it, hence finding their way onto roads
more frequently; even if so, dozens of Americans blazing away in the woods
might just stir them up a little,
