Question:
I'm looking for recommendations
for a good hunting magazine or two. I'll probably join the NRA and
get _American Hunter_. I've also enjoyed a few issues of _Field and Stream_
from the local library, but a friend said that their info is unreliable.
What's your favorite hunting magazine and why?
Answer:
Two of my favorites are the "Eastmans' Journal" which is dedicated to western
trophy hunting, and "Safari" published by the Safari Club International.
Eastmans' Journal consistently has great story after story written by average
guys, not professional writers, about hunting all over the western US. It's
main thrust is mule deer, elk, and big horn sheep, but other species sneak in there
every now and then too. Also it gives info on hot spots for finding the biggest
trophies year after year.
The SCI publication is dedicated to hunting anythnig anywhere. There are stories
about everything from hunting cape buffalo in Africa to altai argali sheep in
Mongolia to aoudads in Texas. It's a great magazine if you have any interest
hunting other parts of the world.
