Question:
I was wondering if anybody out there had hunted deer in Colorado, Unit
10?? I am planning to hunt this unit in '98 (4 Pref points s/b enough),
and figure that it isn't too early to gather information.
Answer:
I hunted Colorado unit 10 in 1995. It was full of small bucks. I
passed up at least 15. I'm sure there were some bigger ones there, but
I couldn't find them. By 1998, the size of the average buck should be
much improved if the winter weather holds out. I've been accumulating
preference points again and hope to hunt in 98 or 99. Maybe I'll see
you there.
Finding a place to hunt is not a problem. There is plenty of public
land. I didn't try to get access to private land so I don't know about hat.
One more thing. The backroads in the unit are TERRIBLE!. When wet,
they are extremely slippery...kind of a silty clay gunk. Plan on
bringing tire chains for all four tires!
