Question:
I am looking for fishing guides in Central Florida for freshwater
fish. Snook, Bass, Peacock Bass.
I plan to go to Florida this summer and look forward to some good
fishing. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Answer:
Just so you won't get your expectations shattered, as far as I know
there are no peacock bass in Central Florida. I get them in my canal
in Broward County, and I've heard they've migrated as far north as
south Palm Beach county. But they cannot live in water less than 60
degrees, and prefer it in the 80s. The water in my canal dropped to
the low 70s recently. I saw a peacock hanging around the shore and
pulled a shiner in close to him. No response. Normally that's like
dangling a rock in front of a crack addict, but he was so lethargic in
the cold water that he hardly moved.
