Fly Fishing Near Minneapolis?

Question:
I've got to be in Minneapolis on business on Monday. Is it worth me throwing a travel rod in my bag and going fishing on Tuesday?

Answer:
There are Muskies in Lake Harriet, right in south Minneapolis. Quite a few of them, actually. I can't imagine what kind of fly I'd use for a Muskie. I understand there's decent stream trout fishing down by Rochester. Someone posted a URL about it awhile ago. Generally speaking, though, Minnesota is not flyfishing country. If you ever get a chance, go on a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters. Beautiful. You can catch Northerns, Smallmouth, Walleye, and Lake Trout. Take a spinning rod and a good selection of Rapallas and jigs. Trolling and fishing the inlets works best. Take a bait casting rig and a steel line if you want to go for the Lake Trout in the summer.
