I'm looking for bows that are passable for SCA use that won't take a
sizable chunk out of my wallet. can anybody tell me where i can get a
bow for a good price online, mail-order, or somewhere in orange or san
bernardino county here in S. California?

I purchaced a Martin Selfbow longbow called the NIRK HAWK in a 55 lb pull
for $84.00 cash price there. It is available in various poundages. The
bow had to be finished, which means I had to lightly sand the wood then
varnish it in spray polyurathane. The composition of the bow is Hickory
backed Maple wood. I like the bow alot. it shoots well, and looks good.
If you don't want to complete a bow, then F/S has several different
laminated fiberglas longbows and recurves available, and they will send
you a catalog if you call them.
