Question:
Although FITA cannot dictate budgets in member countries, do they go
along with the idea that an archer will now have to be affluent to
become a world Champion?
Answer:
This isn't a FITA issue. FITA's not witholding funds from pulley bow shooters, their NGB's are. GNAS is just one example. US NAA is another. FITA congress is said to have passed a resolution supporting the principle of Olympic participation of pulley bow but NOT AT THE EXPENSE of recurve.
IOW, add pulley bow if possible but don't reduce recurve. It is the IOC's lack of support for increasing archery slots at the Games that "is not too bothered really about compound archers" not FITA. Recurve archery is still endangered, by the way, but less so with all the concessions and improvements made in the past 12 years.
