Answer:
Those of you out there who are traditional archers, and are feeling
a bit lonely: You could always look up the SCA (Society for Creative
Anachronism) in your neighborhood. This is a medieval/renaissance
group which, among other things, does archery.
SCA archery uses recurves, longbows and crossbows. Wooden arrows
with bird fletching. No sights, stabilizers or other modern stuff.
There are two types of archery: target and combat. Most people
do target archery in various forms, many quite unusual.
