Question:
I would like to know about off the highway fishing between Anchorage and Fairbanks
Answer:
When I was running a jetboat on the rivers, I used to chase trout when the salmon fishing was slow & I was bored. (Or when I had customers that wanted to go after trout.) My favorite trick was to find an active salmon spawning bed and drift a single fireball downstream from it. It works fairly well because there are usually trout waiting for salmon eggs to drift down from the spawning bed. (Ultra- or microlight gear adds to the fun and barbless hooks make it a relatively harmless way to fill up a couple of hours.)
