September is usually the best time to fish for Silvers up there. The runs
over the past couple years have been great.
I lived in Kodiak for the last 3 years before moving to Kentucky this year.
I would say the King Salmon area is the best. There are some guides in that
area. You may have to fly in somewhere.
I wouldn't recommend using anything less than an 8-wt. setup. In Kodiak for
example the silvers ran anywhere from 15-23 pounds and when they are fresh
from the ocean they put up one heck of a fight.
I had good luck using streamers in yellow or light green. Egg patterns work
well too.
